About Us

Path to Binaries

The Coding Club Of PSG College Of Technology is a student community that intuitively works on promoting inherent problem-solving skills present in students, irrespective of the discipline they hail from. We strive to bring programming and the associated thinking not as a separate entity, but as an integrated part of any real-world problem.

A unit initiated by Principal Dr.K.Prakasan, Dean Dr.R.Nadarajan, and Associate Dean of Placement and Training cell Dr.R.Engels , the coding club is constituted by a team of representatives comprised of one member each from the Student Executive Committee of all departments, functioning, under the expertise of Faculty Advisor Dr.V.Senthil Kumaran.

What We Do

Weekly Webinars

Experienced professionals from the tech and education industry and fellow Techians with specializations in the different fields pertaining to technology and problem solving are invited to share their insights and impart the knowledge they’ve gained from experience. Topics that require the interdisciplinary application of programming to solve real-life problems are encouraged, and sessions are conducted at a time conducive to students’ class schedules

Weekly Coding

A weekly programming contest with questions that are curated and customized according to varying problem-solving skill levels by utilizing HackerRank and Examly to scale contests from beginner to intermediate to advanced levels. This provides an environment where students are provided with resources to gain mastery in various programming languages, as well as progress at their own pace.

Coding Starters

This event creates a platform for learning through effective discussion for complete beginners—to both increase their understanding of current concepts and also help them learn to code effectively. Student experts in programming from various departments are invited to deliver concise and beginner-friendly tutorials and lessons on fundamental concepts. This facilitates a bidirectional learning environment that allows for both gaining knowledge and clarification of doubts and queries.

Initiatives

Ideation

An interdisciplinary project hackathon that will allow the leveraging of creative coding skills to design innovative solutions around manufacturing, retail, healthcare, agriculture, fashion, etc. The hackathon not only pushes imagination and ideas into action but also provides the chance to win amazing cash prizes..

Coding Labaratory

The first College-based Open Source Community in India where student experts in open source contributions and domain experts of various tech fields mentor students in completing a project or guide the students to make successful pull requests from a large-scale open-source project. An example would be Julia, the Open Source Programming Language for Scientific Computing, a one of its kind technology used intensively in many areas of research testing.

Kickoff Event

The opening session for the Coding Competition, this event is meant to introduce the participants to the basics of programming through engaging examples and algorithms.

Intercollegiate Coding Competition

Inculcating the spirit of Competitive programming and gaining recognition for the problem-solving ability are the guaranteed takeaways from this event. The event occurs in various Rounds that require practical problem-solving skills to progressively shatter walls of increasing difficulties as one passes through the rounds.
